Hey there. I'm a Canadian writer and journalist with a digressive mind and diverse interests that might be of interest to folks here. As well as books (On Opium: Pain, Pleasure, and Other Matters of Substance is my most recent, and it's about drug policy, pain, capitalism, writing, and solidarity among other things) and journalism (on poverty, environment, human rights, drug policy, housing & homelessness and other social issues, focusing at local and global levels) , I write a twice-weekly newsletter about literature & experience, called Live More Lives (carlyn.zwaren.substack.com). It's about how to 'live more lives' with just the one we are each born with-- through the magic of fiction.
