Hi HN,

I worked with Françoise Lombaers, a mosaic artisan who's spent twenty years restoring heritage pieces, to explore what happens when algorithms meet traditional craft constraints. We've been asking what happens when you try to implement algorithms with the constraints of traditional mosaic: square tiles only, never cut. It's not about making mosaics look "digital", it's about exploring how to create organic movement with square tiles and code.

We translated four different processes: - Mycelium networks (fungal growth patterns) - Prim-Jarník (minimum spanning trees) - Conway's Game of Life - Wave propagation

I am a designer and not a computer scientist, so this has been about understanding and taming the algorithms, then seeing what they become when embedded in tesserae.
